The Opportunity -

In partnership with the ADF and the Commonwealth, Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) provides aircraft maintenance and upgrades, component maintenance solutions, technical support, mission-critical infrastructure support and training on some of the most capable surveillance, command, control, and combat platforms in the world.

BDA is looking for a Senior Avionics Engineer who will join the Boeing CH-47F Chinook team. As a key member of the Engineering Rotary Wing team, you will support the Sustainment Services Program which is essential in ensuring continuing airworthiness of the aircraft under the Defence Airworthiness Safety Regulations (DASR).

This role is based at Gallipoli Barracks, Brisbane.

As a Senior Avionics Engineer within BDA, you will

  • Work with the ADF to sustain and enhance the CH-47F capability
  • Integrate new software and avionics modifications into the CH-47F aircraft and ADF sustainment system
  • Develop and lead software and avionics verification and certification programs
  • Assess compatibility for carriage and operation of new aircraft role equipment
  • Provide SME assessments for hazard management relating to aviation software, avionics and electrical systems.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Avionics, Software, Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics).
  • Minimum of 5 years avionics engineering experience.
  • Experience within Aviation environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to engage with external stakeholders.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in an ADF SPO (Systems Program Office).
  • Engineering authority within a DASR 21J or similar safety regulations.
  • Experience with software assurance programs.
