The Amazon Marketplace team is looking for a high performing, motivated Business Intelligence Engineer to support our business in launching new dashboards and internal-facing data products. In this role you'll have the opportunity to deliver results using core AWS products including Redshift, Quicksight, S3, Sagemaker, EC2, Lambda and Glue. If you're a problem solver with the ability to dive deep into our huge data warehouse and produce scalable solutions, then this role is for you! Our team supports other businesses who want to sell on Amazon. While we are based in Australia, we have a global scope as we support organisations who want to sell to globally and locally. The Business Intelligence team is critical to ensuring that our organisation is equipped with the right insights to drive decision making.
You will be given the opportunity to own specific BI programs such as pricing and advertising, working with stakeholders to understand business problems, identify the relevant data and synthesise it into meaningful analyses. This can take the form of a deep dive into our metrics, developing a dashboard in AWS Quicksight, creating a data pipeline for BI self-service or developing a machine learning model to improve our customer experience. You will have the support of global analytics teams to share best practices as well as access to Quicksight product teams to provide feedback and request support.
Key job responsibilities
- Become a subject matter expert in BI and data specific to the programs you own.
- Identify business needs and improvements in order to track the right metrics and ensure they are reported.
- Develop the next-generation data and analytics infrastructure to enable Amazon Business to support its customers and sales teams.
- Manage and execute large project components from start to finish, including data collection and manipulation, synthesis and modelling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.
- Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and deep dive analyses for reporting customer and seller metrics.
- Write high-quality SQL code to retrieve and analyze data, as well as learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources.
- Participating in and contributing to technical reviews, such as code reviews and dashboard logic reviews.
A day in the life
As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be expected to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will use Redshift SQL to create queries and pull data into Quicksight to create powerful visualisations. You will also be expected to understand the metrics we report on and why they were implemented in the way they were in order to provide feedback to your stakeholders. You will also play a key role in the development of a reliable and scalable data platform, as well as a suite of self-service applications for ongoing reporting and analytics.
