We have an amazing opportunity available for a Biodiversity Business Partner to support the Environment and Sustainability team in ensuring all biodiversity risks and impacts are effectively managed.

The main support areas include leading compliance with the contractor Biodiversity Management Plan and associated sub-plans. You will support the delivery of the Biodiversity Offset Package (BOP) and spatial data analysis and governance.

You will take the lead in the ensuring clearing limits are well managed and any ecological risks are transferred to the operational data sets used throughout operation.

You will have a focus on and be able to effectively manage expectations at all levels. A self-starter, you will thrive in a busy and ever changing, fast paced environment and will enjoy working autonomously.

What are we looking for?

  • Degree qualification in Science/Ecology or equivalent
  • Understanding of biodiversity risks associated with electricity networks or similar linear infrastructure.
  • A current Drivers Licence.
  • Understanding and demonstrated experience in the use of geographic information systems.
  • Technical background / experience in biodiversity survey.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Answer property enquiries from property owners or government bodies and determine actions to resolve issues.
  • Participate as a team member in providing assurance checks of various work practices and prepare reports.
  • Identify training requirements and determine appropriate means to enhance workforce skills and understanding.
  • Assess and show judgment of circumstances in respect of the sensitivity or potential impact of various issues and activities.
  • The position holder is required to be conversant with a range of Corporate standards and procedures.
  • The incumbent will need to ensure that deadlines are met and prioritise work schedules accordingly.
  • Provision of environmental advice based on statutory obligations and requirements and associated regulations and guidelines
  • The incumbent will need to be prepared to travel within the state of NSW (and interstate) to attend site meetings and/or carry out inspection/checking activities on various project sites. In some instances, this will involve staying overnight at regional locations within NSW.
  • Experience delivering biodiversity impact assessments in New South Wales.
  • Experience in the preparation and approval of Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports.
  • Experience engaging with a range of stakeholders regarding biodiversity assessment and related issues.
  • BAM assessor accreditation.
