National Jet Systems is seeking applications for Base Manager in our Sydney base, with the ability to travel and also oversee our Canberra and Hobart bases.

Reporting to the Manager Flight Crew, the Base Manager is responsible for leading a high performance team and managing all non-technical aspects of the pilot group in their base(s) which includes but is not limited to;
being the Subject Matter Expert (SME) of the Pilot Enterprise Agreement (PEA) in force, managing all forms of leave, performance management, standards of conduct and disciplinary proceedings, allowances, fitness for work and return to work, local Workplace Health and Safety issues and facilitate consultation. The Base Manager will lead pilots at the Sydney base and is willing to lead timely performance conversations.

Where required, the Base Manager will provide guidance to Flight Operations Management on people and industrial matters relating to their base and are expected to implement continuous improvement initiatives and promote a positive and engaged relationship between the Pilots and Management.

Your role and responsibilities will be:

  • Lead a Pilot workforce within the Sydney, Canberra and Hobart bases
  • Drive an inclusive, safe and engaged workplace culture
  • Manage Pilots in respect to leave and attendance, scheduling, grievance and case management, and overall performance of the Pilot group
  • Industrial Relations and Pilot Enterprise Agreement Subject Matter Expert
  • Manage Performance, Standards of Conduct and Disciplinary Matters
  • Management of Leave, Allowances and Payroll Queries
  • Management of the relevant Base Facilities
  • Management of Fitness for Work and Return to Work programs

Your experience, qualifications and attributes will include:

  • Strong people leadership experience including a demonstrated experience building high performing teams and effectively managing HR and IR related matters including misconduct, grievances and employee fitness for work
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Experience within an operational role with a people focus
