Barista

The Common Bean Barista will work collaboratively with the Operations Manager, Supervisor and other cafe team members. They will work autonomously whilst at DPV and may at times work across our other 2 locations. All within walking distance in Broadmeadows, sites are located at Kangan Tafe and Hume Global Learning Centre (opening shortly).

The role is an exciting one, it is not just your standard cafe atmosphere it is supporting the successful operation of The Common Bean Café a Social Enterprise and contributing to excellence in the hospitality sector.

Key Duties Café Operations

Undertake all aspects of the daily operations of the café, including:

• Closing procedures, including the clean down of service areas and equipment at commencement, end and throughout each shift. Will need to be able to open the premises on occasion also.
• excellent customer service
• serving food to customers
• food and drink preparation
• food purchasing, safe storage practices and waste disposal
• ensuring counters and customer seating areas are kept clean
• accepting payment and providing accurate change to customers
• Deliver exceptional customer service.
• Support and engage in a positive environment, which provides consistent, efficient, and friendly service for customers, and exceeds customer expectations.
• Follow safe work practices, and demonstrate a commitment to BGCS values.
• Work efficiently and collaboratively with the café team.
• Receiving delivered café supplies and verifying that the correct items and quantities have been delivered.
• Taking inventory of café supplies and supporting ordering of new stock as needed.
